SPOTLIGHT ON: STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES 10/31/13

It's that time of year where sickness runs rampant, and college is no exception to that! As the seasons change and the weather gets colder, your student will want to pay Health Services a visit to stay healthy.

Student Health Services is here to make sure that your student is happy and healthy. There are a variety of things available through Student Health Services such as:

  • Physical exams
  • Annual exams and pap tests
  • Urgent care visits for diagnosis or follow-up
  • Rapid Strep A throat swabs
  • Blood glucose testing
  • Allergy injections
  • And....FLU SHOTS!

Student Health Services offers FREE flu shots for all day students, no appointment necessary. For interested evening students, those shots are $15. Just come in during regular hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30-11:30AM, and 1-4PM.

Remember: sneeze on your arm, not your hands; wash those hands; and drink plenty of fluids!

Homecoming Week is Here!

Have you heard about all of the wonderful events that are happening on campus?

 SERVICE DAY

The pictures above were from our Service Day at The Food Bank on Sunday, September 29th! Columbia College had a total of 86 volunteers which consisted of students, staff, and faculty members. As a team we completed 7,000 bags of cereal and filled 2,880 buddy packs for the city of Columbia!

PEP RALLY

We had a blast at the Pep Rally on Monday, September 30th! The drumline made an appearance and gave the audience some great spirit before announcing the Homecoming Court. The court (last picture) includes Michael Brown, Josh Dains, Logan Rackers, Annalise Morrison, Cherrelle Woods, and Alyssa Johnson.

GRILLED CHEESE COMPETITION

Ten teams battled each other through their culinary skills on Tuesday, October 1st! Logan Moore and Alex Bopp (Team Pillsbury Dough Boys) won over the judges with their spin on the traditional grilled cheese sandwich. The recipe included raisin toast, bacon, cheddar, pepper jack, provolone, and mozzarella.

The rest of the activities for the week include: Battle of the Halls, S'morror Stories, and the Blacklight Party! We hope to see you at Homecoming/Family Day on Saturday, October 5th. Please click here for more information: Homecoming/Family Day details

New Day Campus Students: Less Than a Week Left!

The Student Affairs Department is so excited to meet all of our new students, and their parents and guardians. We've been working hard all summer long to provide your student with the best learning experiences possible...and there are a LOT of experiences ahead!

Is your student just too excited to get on campus? Early check-in to the residence halls begins on Wednesday, August 14th from 6-10PM, but make sure your student has prior approval before they come to campus. Wondering what to bring to campus or have questions? Check out our website: Res Life FAQ

All other students who are up for waiting can check into their new halls on August 15th from 8-10AM. From there your student will get a chance to get their IDs, parking passes, and more. If you're hungry, free lunch will be served for all new students and families from 11:30-1PM.

After lunch, you will get the opportunity to watch your student be welcomed into the Columbia College community with our traditional Pinning Ceremony. This will give everyone a chance to say their goodbyes before your student embarks on their new adventures!

Until you're able to see this in person, we wanted to show you our new additions to the Atkins-Holman Student Commons. We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
