Springing Forward!

The sun is shining on campus and the students have been enjoying the beautiful weather.

Over the past few weeks we have been busy helping students prepare for the end of the semester! Counseling Services recently offered two Test Anxiety Workshops and are helping students learn new ways to change their stress level.

Student Activities Commission recently hosted their annual Easter Egg Hunt where students searched for eggs all over campus with prize tickets inside. The SAC team handed three students grand prize baskets as well as a lot of candy!

Forever Plaid: The Musical is open to the public! The Department of Visual Arts and Music is offering three more performances in Launer Auditorium. Tickets are $10 at the door or you can pay through foreverplaid.eventbrite.com.

The Student Affairs staff is now preparing for Late Night Breakfast which will occur on Monday, May 5th at 10pm. All students are welcome to come eat some free breakfast while taking a small study break!

What's New?

Good afternoon, parents!

Your students have been busy with their classes as well as participating in activities throughout campus! On February 22nd we took a group to Kansas City, MO to visit the WW1 Museum, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Jazz Museum, and to eat famous BBQ at Smokin' Guns. The students had a blast and truly enjoyed every moment.

New Community Consultants and Resident Assistants have also been chosen for the 2014-2015 school year! Below is a picture with some of the class with their Conversation Partners at their bowling adventure.

We would love for you to keep up with our adventures through our Facebook page. Feel free to like our page for the latest updates: CC Student Affairs

SPOTLIGHT ON: STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES 10/31/13

It's that time of year where sickness runs rampant, and college is no exception to that! As the seasons change and the weather gets colder, your student will want to pay Health Services a visit to stay healthy.

Student Health Services is here to make sure that your student is happy and healthy. There are a variety of things available through Student Health Services such as:

  • Physical exams
  • Annual exams and pap tests
  • Urgent care visits for diagnosis or follow-up
  • Rapid Strep A throat swabs
  • Blood glucose testing
  • Allergy injections
  • And....FLU SHOTS!

Student Health Services offers FREE flu shots for all day students, no appointment necessary. For interested evening students, those shots are $15. Just come in during regular hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30-11:30AM, and 1-4PM.

Remember: sneeze on your arm, not your hands; wash those hands; and drink plenty of fluids!

Questions? Contact our nurse practitioner at 573-875-7432.

Homecoming Week is Here!

Have you heard about all of the wonderful events that are happening on campus?

 SERVICE DAY

The pictures above were from our Service Day at The Food Bank on Sunday, September 29th! Columbia College had a total of 86 volunteers which consisted of students, staff, and faculty members. As a team we completed 7,000 bags of cereal and filled 2,880 buddy packs for the city of Columbia!

PEP RALLY

We had a blast at the Pep Rally on Monday, September 30th! The drumline made an appearance and gave the audience some great spirit before announcing the Homecoming Court. The court (last picture) includes Michael Brown, Josh Dains, Logan Rackers, Annalise Morrison, Cherrelle Woods, and Alyssa Johnson.

GRILLED CHEESE COMPETITION

Ten teams battled each other through their culinary skills on Tuesday, October 1st! Logan Moore and Alex Bopp (Team Pillsbury Dough Boys) won over the judges with their spin on the traditional grilled cheese sandwich. The recipe included raisin toast, bacon, cheddar, pepper jack, provolone, and mozzarella.

The rest of the activities for the week include: Battle of the Halls, S'morror Stories, and the Blacklight Party! We hope to see you at Homecoming/Family Day on Saturday, October 5th. Please click here for more information: Homecoming/Family Day details
